However, my bratty brother threw it out the car window one day when we were on our way to my uncle's swimming pool. We went back to try and find it, but it was gone -- lost forever. 12/12/06She's alive!!!Oh gosh, I have missed way too many days of Christmas preparation being sick! I am now feeling much better minus a little bit of energy but now will have to rely on adrenaline to get me through the marathon of all the things that make Christmas our favorite time of the year.....Baking! This mama's not worrying about the mountain of laundry that has piled up while sniffling.....nope, neah. There are much more important things at hand like the 10 pounds of butta in my fridge patiently waiting for their turn to be transformed into delectable treats such as: Pecan Crescents, Bohemian Sweet Breads, New York Half Moons, and on and on! First, I'd like to thank you all for continuing to visit...even during my period of neglect. The boys are getting older, and contrary to
my initial beliefs....each require more attention than ever. Summer Camp activities, Baseball practices, Baseball games, Pool parties....the list
goes on and on and they eat more too!
It has been a challenge to steal moments from here and there to balance everything....the site is doing VERY well and unfortunately,
that means it's becoming even more difficult keeping up with demands. In other words....I'm selling it faster than I can find it. I will do my best to keep things
fresh and available, but please understand, there is NO warehouse I can just order stock in from.....I have to roll up my sleeves and find this stuff.
The quality and unique detail I have gotten you all accustomed to remains very elusive....and is continuing to become more and more difficult to provide.

After realizing the fate of our son and the impact this may have on future disciplinary decisions in his school career (if need be). I am proud to say we did all we could to at the very least have our son's defense heard. In retrospect, it is disheartening that this is what it had come to.....bringing in a 'Big Gun', James Martin Davis, to have our concerns heard. But at the same time... I am so very GREATFUL that we were blessed enough to have found SOMEONE who had voiced our concerns and was taken seriously. It seems that every media source from LA to Orlando are addressing this issue and our incident. Some think we went too far bringing in a big gun....while others are relating to our frustration and amazed there are still things a parent can do on behalf of our children. I just think that in a day where so many children are NOT given a fair shake at the stick that Mothers and Fathers alike, should have the courage to stand up for their children. Exhaust all avenues if possible....they are entitled....they are depending on us to represent them just as much as they are expecting us to keep them safe. I know what Zero Tolerance means...and why it's in place.....but we also shouldn't let our children become prey to the very rules that are in place to protect them.... all in the name of setting an example. There was a day a mother could go storm up to a school and 'Have it out' with a principal, setting the record straight....unfortunately 'policy' goes beyond that of a principal these days and decisions come from powers far removed from the school environment, coming from people whose concern's are.... NOT of WHO the child is.... WHAT their intent was.... or HOW they got into this situation. As much as children need to be disciplined, they need to have roots....trust....and respect for the public school establishment in order to feed their determination to grow within this very system. They need to feel as if they are being protected, not persecuted. If a child at a young age, has all ready established that the 'Powers that be' are unfair, hurtful and unkind.... Are they really going to thrive in their environment? Are they going to succeed to the best of their ability...would they want to?? There has all ready been evidence of this in our Ethan......with a tearful eye told me to just call them and tell them that he quits. After having been explained that regardless of his efforts to follow the rules....that regardless of the fact he had not even opened his book bag since the Friday before, he would be sitting in a room outside of his classroom in suspension. How does a 6 year old interpret that??? To witness this is a very sad site. Just the day before he was thrilled to have learned so very much and doing far more than expected in the evenings in preparation for his next day at school! Even as I took him back to school his last words were..."Mom, are things OK with my principal?" He is very concerned with having her approval. Every responsible parent should know that an eager and open spirit toward learning is every bit as crucial to a child's learning potential as the books they carry. 09/19/05*Vintage Swap? Even when I thought to bee too tired to have spark left today! 07/20/05It is 1:36 P.M. here and thought to take a break from ironing....coffee in one hand...laptop in the other...and thought to share with you exactly what has been milling around in this leetle pea-brain for the better part of the day... You see...Ironing is therapy for me....A quiet time where I can let my thoughts wander, taking some sort of strange comfort in the motion of the passes of the iron...the sweet smell in the air...and the absolute pleasure I get from seeing the beautiful result of my true dedication. In these moments I can recall how they were found....wondering why they weren't tucked away in a 'special' place for a grand-daughter...even why the boys are so absolutely silent to allow me such a wonderfully quiet moment... ~But then, I am taken over with delight from just looking at their cheerful aesthetics as a result of my efforts and that is all that matters....at least at that moment. 06/13/05I survived!Yes, it is true....Mama has survived her first complete computer crash! A heap of rubble it is but thankfully. All my files were saved and most importantly, all of the fabu new photos of all the things I am *STILL working on posting have been recovered. What a devastating thing that can be...It's like watching the past 5 years vanish before your very eyes! All though behind, I am proud to announce there are 10 new vintage tablecloths just out of restoration and all waiting for their turn on the ironing board! Three amazing quilts...A 1930's Uncle Sam...Matte Aqua Pottery...and a European Wool blanket that will make you turn your A/C down just to use! Look to see a HUGE Pink Satin Glass hanging lamp hand painted with Roses to grace these pages.... And if you like Vintage Garden Art....Oh my ~ A Victorian twisted metal hanging basket chair! 12/16/04Almost another year wrapped up! Where does the time go? I would like to take a brief moment to Thank each and every one of you....yes, you! ~The visitors~ Because truth be known, without visitors, this would not be worth while.
