So who exactly is this MamaWiskas?

First and most importantly, Welcome to my very own, special little spot in cyber-ville!

The purpose for MamaWiskas.com -

To share with you not only an appreciation for vintage items of a day long-past, but a passion for giving them a new purpose. In addition, to bring the spotlight to the charm of vintage printed linens and hand work....oh, what passion I have for their beauty!

What is the "House 'O Goodies"???

The 1939 Midwestern Cottage Bungalow in which my acquired vintage items reside.
(Often referred to as the 'Money Pit')

Ummmm MamaWho???

Ummm, thats M-A-M-A-W-I-S-K-A-S.
My amazingly supportive hubby is PapaWiskas and there are two little WondaWiskas bustling around too!

MamaWiskas was born four years ago after the birth of my oldest son. It was simply a new nick-name as a result of my recent motherhood. Prior to that I was 'SugahWiskas'...it fit.. I liked it.
The name may have recently evolved but the evolution of a Vintage Appreciator, has for many years, been in the making. I have since a very young age enjoyed, appreciated and scouted for vintage...even before vintage was kewl. (yes, vintage has not always been as 'in' as it is today.
Shortly after the birth of our son came the announcement of yet another new addition on the way. (Glug) Next came the purchase of our 1939 Bungalow and the real beginning of 'hunting vintage'. Five years...thousands of estate sales and too many treasures for one person to have later...........Mamawiskas.com!

What you may expect to find here?

All items I bring to you are somewhat special for many reasons. All will be of only the highest quality available and have unique attributes. Each item on my pages has caught my eye for a special reason. Whichever the case may be, our items are special, evoking an warm, comforting feeling for those whom appreciate their form and function.......with vintage charm.

Truth be told - whether if it's a hand made soap flakes dispenser, an heirloom piece of 19c. lace or a set of 1940's Birthday cards; All my finds are my newest favorite - all of them are equally appreciated and all are just as valuable as the other.

You may Always expect to find wonderful vintage linens....
Each are in exceptional condition, unused or fabulously restored & ready for immediate enjoyment upon arrival.

My textile fetish is all about the senses....Nothing feels as lovely as heavy quilt on your bed...
Nothing dresses a kitchen table any better than a striking 1930's cloth exploding with vibrant color....and let's face it..
No 400 thread count percale or Egyptian Cotton compares to the textiles loomed the old way....not for looks, not for durability. Nothing can replicate the buttery softness that can be produced by time...use and care.
My collections are purposeful, usable items...not dust collectors. I use them as much as I love them!

Where do my items come from?

Long forgotten places...dark attic corners..steamer trunks..fruit cellars..basements.. kitchen pantry's....and any other special nooks and crannies which have become proverbial "time capsules". Whether it is acquired at an estate sale or true old-fashioned Mid-Western auction.... these are my only sources.
This ensures a far more personal exchange in the buying and selling experience.

Why do I do it?

Because I love what I do...it brings me joy.
I have always been a schtuff person....a gatherer. All I can say is that I come by it naturally...much like my Gramma, whom always stopped to give some inanimate object a second glance...making sure it didn't have some sort of hidden beauty. Often times it did and she would then pick it up, put it in that 'special place'...it brought her joy.

I have honed my skills somewhat and developed my own unique eye for detail....I would hope to make my Gramma proud...
as she is, was and always will be my one and only inspiration. *Luv you Gram*

And most of all....

I can't think of any other way to do what I do best AND continue to be my angels most #1 fan...they are my pride and joy!

What can you expect?

A wide array of Vintage Goods...An exuberant selection of quality Vintage Textiles and Linens...Retro Kitchenware and other interesting vintage home goods. Each arriving to you in Accurate & As described condition in a prompt and timely manner. Linens will come clean and meticulously pressed crisp with a scent of natural Lavender Linen water.

Please take note: Each and every piece has been hand selected and scrutinized by the pickiest of judges....MYSELF! You need NOT worry of vague descriptions, less than pristine conditions or forgiving standards.
I remain extremely critical of qualifications in which my items must meet. Only the best of literally hundreds of textiles have proven to be worthy of their place on these pages.

Most of all...I bring to you a piece of mind that you may at any time inquire or request any additional information needed to make accurate buying decision AND receive a courteous response in a timely manner.

Do I take requests?

I most certainly do! If you are looking for something in particular or would like to see more of a certain type of item.....Just ask! I will gladly keep your needs in mind while out buying...I'm always out buying!

Do I Wholesale?

Due to limited and unpredictable availability, it is very difficult to supply items in bulk.
However, I will gladly consider giving a 'dealer discount' to large and/or repeat business upon my discretion.
